Aghada Goal power decide U21 Tie

They say goals win games and this adage rang through in the Cork County U21 Football championship quarter final tie between Kanturk and Aghada played at Coachford on Saturday 17th May. Aghada's goal poaching, scoring three over the hour was the deciding factor of this tie, although, Kanturk can rightly feel that if they took the chances that fell their way, the result could have been different with the post saving Aghada on a number of occasions and a few missed frees costing the Duhallow side dearly.
It was a close contest all through with the interval score line leaving Aghada ahead by two points, 0-7 to 2-3.
Kanturk pounced for their goal early in the second half and when they went 1-10 to 2-3 ahead after 37 minutes, it looked like the Duhallow side were in control but from then until the final whistle Kanturk were to score only once more as Aghada took control and with their 3rd goal scored on 41 minutes, it gave them the momentum to turn the game in their favour. Kanturk battled to the final whistle but the scores they badly needed did not materialise and they made their exit on a 1-11 to 3-07 score line.
