Double Header in Cork, St. Patricks Day Parade, Intermediate Hurling and Junior B Football all add to a busy week for Kanturk GAA.

On Saturday night the clubs focus will  switch to Pairc Ui Rinn. Cork Hurlers and Footballers will host a double header under lights. The Footballers kick off the show at 5pm against Donegal.
The Footballers will be hoping to make up for last years All-Ireland Championship defeat to Donegal. With wins in their last two league outings over Tyrone and Down. Cork will be going into the contest full of confidence but will also be aware of the threat posed by the reining All-Ireland Champions. Whatever happens an intriguing encounter awaits.
Kanturk are proudly represented by Aidan Walsh named in Midfield, and in a rich vein of form having notched up 1-8 in his last 2 games, John McLoughlin is named on the bench however John was used from the bench in last weeks league victory over Tyrone playing a key part in Corks defence, everyone in the club hopes he can get another run and carry on that form. Ballydesmond man Donncha O'Connor is also named at centre forward for the rebels.
The Hurlers then take over at 7pm in their 3rd round league tie versus Clare. Cork are undefeated in their opening encounters with a comprehensive win over Tipperary and a draw to Waterford, but Clare are also going into the game off the back of an impressive victory over Galway last week. Clare are very much seen as the up and coming team of 2013 with wins in u21 and minor in the last few years. Cork are hoping to do one better this year and make up for last years disappointing loss in the National League Final. A great game of Hurling is surely in store.
Kanturk once again have a strong representation on the Cork side. Anthony Nash is between the posts for the Rebels again. Anthony is steadily becoming one of the best goalkeepers in the country with an All-Star and a Railway cup medal to his name in the last few months. Lorcan McLoughlin is anchoring the midfield and expect to see him in every corner of the pitch and greatly adding to Corks cause with his Hard work and vision. Kilbrin native William Egan is named in the half back line and Mark Ellis of Millstreet is named on the bench.

Sunday as we all know is St. Patricks day with the towns annual parade taking place. All Juveniles are asked to Show up in the club/county colours to represent the club and take part in the parade. Please contact your under age coach to see what time you are to meet and where.

The Intermediate Hurlers are also in action over the weekend. The second round of the league sees them travelling to Fr. O'Neills. The two sides have the un-enviable title of the last two beaten county finalists. But it also shows both clubs ambition and their talent. Kanturk beat Fr. O'Neills twice last season with a 3-8 to 2-6 victory in the league last March and an exciting 2-15 to 1-15 in the quarter final of the championship. Going on past meetings a close encounter is in store and both clubs will be looking to get an early season victory under their belts.

Monday sees the Junior B footballers kick off their league campaign against Ballydesmond in Kanturk at 4:30pm. Kanturk were beaten in last years league and championship final so will be hoping to bounce back and go one better this year. The first step starts next Monday. Ballydesmond are traditionally strong at this grade and will pose a great contest for our boys in Green. Once again support is greatly appreciated.

The busy season of GAA is once again upon us, all groups of players are back training hard and competitive matches are now starting.  All support for our players is a bonus and we hope that you can make as many games as possible.

Thanks for reading!
