CHAMPIONSHIP DEFEAT OVERSHADOWED BY LORCAIN'S INJURY

posted 19 May 2015, 02:51 by Kanturk Gaa
A shoulder injury sustained by midfielder Lorcain Mc Loughlin mid way through the first half over shadowed Kanturk's opening Cork Premier Intermediate Hurling championship defeat to Castlelyons on Sunday 17th May at Castletownroche. Lorcain had to leave the field of play with the injury which puts him out of the Cork/Waterford Munster Senior hurling clash on June 7th and for the foreseeable future.
Despite Lorcain's early departure, Kanturk held a 1-07 to 0-07 interval lead.
A Castlelyons goal 9 minutes into the second half turned the game in their favour but the sides were still level with 5 minutes left for play and Castlelyons, found the extra step to find the scores which led them to victory on a 1-13 to 1-16 score line.
Kanturk, minus Lorcain, now face Bandon in round 2 over the weekend of 13/14th June.
Best wishes are extended to Lorcain for a speedy recovery and a return to duty for club and county.
