A monster 80 yard pointed free in injury time from Anthony Nash sent Kanturk Intermediate hurlers into a second county final in a row when they defeated Fermoy in the semi final played at Ballyhea on Saturday 12th October for a one point victory on a 2-16 to 2-15 score line. Kanturk were a point adrift at the interval and looked to be up against it early in the second half when Fermoy took a 3 point lead. Back came Kanturk with a Lorcan McLoughlin goal and keep the game on a knife edge for the remainder of the game. Such was the closeness of the play, the teams were level 8 times over the hour. The game looked like going to a replay entering injury time until Nash pointed sending Kanturk into the final and Fermoy home disappointed.
