It was a case of failing to take ones chances coming back to roost as Kanturk made their Cork Intermediate championship exit at the quarter final stage when Cill na Martra out scored them 1-11 to 0-10 at Macroom on Friday 9th September.
The sides were level 1 point each after 3 minutes of the opening half before Cill na Martra built up a 5 point to 1point lead by the tenth minute and when the Muskerry side goaled midway through the half, Kanturk's faced an uphill battle, down 0-01 to 1-07. To their credit, improved play saw Kanturk close the gap to 0-5 to 1-07 at the interval.
Three close in frees in the opening quarter of the second half along with another coming back off the upright, saw Kanturk spurn more gilt edge chances.
As the second half wore on, Kanturk were on top in most sectors but failing to take their chances cost them dearly as they lost 0-10 to 1-11 score line.
