Kanturk Intermediate footballers showed battling qualities to recover from a 1-8 to 0-4 interval deflict and a poor first half showing to put in a galant second half performance in their league game away to Fermoy on Sunday 22nd April. After the concession of a poor goal early in the Kanturk, kanturk were out of sorts in the opening half and found themselves 1-8 to 0-4 in arrears at the interval. A Kyrl Holland goal midway through the second half sparked Kanturk to life and with the probings of John Mc Loughlin, Anthony Nash and Lorcan O' Neill, Kanturk battled back to eventually fall short on a 3-11 to 3-15 score line. Kanturk now face Cloyne in their next Intermediate League game at Riverstown on Friday next 27th April with a 7.30pm start.
In underage affairs our Minor hurlers made the trip to Ballyhea a successful one on Thursday last 19th April, defeating the home team by 1-16 to 2-11. Our under 12 hurlers defeated Newmarket on Saturday last on a 11-07 to 4-03 score line.
Well done to Anthony Nash and Lorcain Mc Loughlin on the part they played in Cork senior hurlers National League semi final victory over Tipperary at Thurles on Sunday last 22nd April. Anthony replaced the injured Donal Og Cusack in goal midway through the first half and made an important contribution to Cork's victory with two top class saves late in the game. Lorcain was involved in the play from his midfield berth throughout the game. Both can look forward to the final againsts Kilkenny at Thurles on Sunday 6th May.
Best wishes to Aidan Walsh and the Cork footballers who travel to Croke Park for the National League final against Mayo on Sunday next 29th April 4pm.
