Kanturk made the treck to Cloughduv on Friday 12th June a successful one when defeating Bandon in round 2 of the Cork county premier Intermediate Hurling championship. They say goals win games and this is certainly true in this case with Kanturk's panache for scoring majors evidence on this occasion. The sides were level at the interval 3-2 to 0-11 and Kanturk failing to convert chances both from play and placed balls was very noticeable. By this stage Bandon were reduced to 14 with their full forward and tallies man dismissed on a straight red card having amassed 7points (6 from frees) before his departure.
The wastage from Kanturk was evidenced by having accumulated 15 wides to Bandon's 6 midway through the second half. Kanturk found their range in the closing 10 minutes running out winners on a 4-11 to 1-15 score line.
