On Friday 24th June, Kanturk travelled to Ballyhea to face Kilworth in the Cork Premier Intermediate hurling championship round 2B tie with high hopes of atoning for their first round defeat to Cloyne. After the opening half played against the wind, the sides went in level at the break on 10 points each and Kanturk looked well placed to take the victory required to maintain their interest in the championship. The missed scoring opportunities against Cloyne, returned to haunt them on this occasion as they shot ten wides during the second half and when Kilworth goaled with less than ten minutes left for play, Kanturk failed to close the gap and made their championship exit on a 0-16 to 1-16 score line.
