A very much understrength Kanturk side made the long journey to Ballynoe a fruitless one when they went under to the East Cork side, St Catherines in their league tie on Sunday 19th May. Despite having only 15 players available for the game, Kanturk gave a spirited first half performance as the held a slender one point lead at the short whistle (1-05 to 0-7). St Catherines dominance grew in the second period and when Kanturk were reduced to 14 on a second yellow, the game was slipping away as the East Cork side picked off their points and Kanturk spurned the chances that came their way. Two late goals gave St Catherines a comfortable victory on a 2-13 to 1-06 score line. For Kanturk it's back to the training ground as they prepare for the opening championship engagement in a few weeks.
