Cucullains (kanturk) minor hurlers travelled to Cloughduv on Monday 14th October to face Ibane Gaels in the Rebel Og Cork U18'B'Hurling county championship final. In a close game the Kanturk side held sway at the interval on a 0-06 to 0-05 score line. When Ibane Gaels goaled midway through the second half to take a 1-07 to 0-07 lead it looked as if the game was swaying in their direction. Cucullains had other ideas and two pointed frees by Liam O Keeffe closed the gap. A Clernon point on 52 minutes levelled the game before the same player gave the Kanturk side a one point lead on 54 minutes. As the game entered injury time Paul Walsh gave Cucullains a two point advantage before Ibane Gaels pointed to leave the minimum between the sides but time ran out and Cucullains (kanturk) held on to win by 0-12 to 1-08 and take the county title amid great excitement.
