Before a capacity attendance at the Rochestown Park Hotel on Friday 31st January, Anthony Nash was selected as the 96FM/C103FM GAA Sports Star of the year for 2013. It was a wonderful accolade for Anthony and capped a year of great performances in the Cork Jersey by Nash, who also captained Kanturk to county intermediate championship honours. Anthony is the second Kanturk man to win the overall annual award, following in the footsteps of Aidan Walsh who was the recipient in 2009. Anthony was joined by family, friends and club officers as he won the award. Invited guest on the night included GAA President, Liam O'Neill along with Cork GAA Chairman, Bob Ryan, Runai, Frank Murphy and PRO, Tracey Kennedy.
The distinguished career award went to Gerald McCarthy who captained Cork to U21 and Senior All-Ireland success in 1966 and won a total of 5 Celtic crosses in a wonderful career.
