In the Cork Senior 'A' Hurling championship Kanturk & Newcestown had victories over Cloyne & Killeagh respectively over the weekend to set up a mouthwatering top of the table clash at Coachford on Saturday 8th August at 4pm.
Both clubs last met in the Premier Intermediate Semi Final of 2014 with the Carbery side winning by 0-12 to Kanturk's 0-09 in a game also played at Coachford.
Kanturk's victory over Cloyne on Sunday last, while not unexpected, was notable for double scores at the end. It looked unlikely to finish that way when Kanturk led at the interval by one point but they took command in the second half and when Cloyne lost a player midway through the half to a second yellow, Kanturk embellished the score line to win 2-18 to 1-09.
