Wolfe Tones (Kanturk) lost out by the minimum in the Rebel Og Central U14 Prem2 football championship final against Ballincollig at Macroom on Wednesday 11th May. The opening half was a close run affair with Ballincollig getting the decisive score when raising a green flag 8 minutes before the interval. Kanturk were not perturbed by this set back and overturned their 0-6 to 1-5 interval arrears to take the lead eight minutes after the restart but were rocked by two Ballincollig goals which left them  0-10 to 3-08 with ten minutes left for play. Kanturk did not wilt and snatched two goals in a three minute spell in the closing five minutes to set up a pulsating finish, but when a late free drifted wide, Kanturk's hopes of taking the tie to extra time were dashed and they lost out by 2-11 to 3-09. It was a great effort by the Kanturk team and management and one hopes with further skill and dedication to training over the years ahead, success will be attained by a talented bunch of players.
