Kanturk Junior footballers gave a less than impressive display in defeating Glenbower Rover in the quarter final of the Cork Co championship at Mallow on Friday 7th October. After a close 1st half in which Kanturk kicked many wides and their decision making was poor, an interval lead of 0-7 to 1-2 didnt reflect the Duhallow sides domination of possession. The game remained close until midway through the 2nd half and decisive match turning points came with an Anthony Nash goal before Kanturk keeper, Johnny Kenneally saved a Glenbower penalty. Kanturk pushed on to embellish the scoreline which didnt reflect the strenght of the East Cork sides challenge and eventually ran out winners on a 2-14 to 1-03 scoreline. Kanturk now await the winners of the St Finbarr's/Bandon tie in the Semi Final which is listed for Saturday 15th October with a 4pm start.
