Kanturk minor footballers travelled to Macroom to face Ilen Rovers in the final of the Rebel Og, Cork county Minor 'A' Football championship. The west Cork side took the game to their Duhallow counter parts in the opening half and held an interval lead of 7 points at the short whistle. Falling further behind in the second period, it looked as if Kanturk would suffer a big defeat until a goal set the comeback on the way and with the switch of team captain Lorcan O' Neill & John Brown, Kanturk's play inproved and they forced the game into extra time on a 2-12 each score line. Kanturk's superior fitness showed in the two periods of extra time and they clinched the final and the championship cup on a 3-16 to 2-15 score line for a first ever Cork county championship at this level.
